KERNIT Documentation

Quickstart

Upload a DOCX, scan the document, review uncertain matches, optionally resolve bibliography entries with DOI evidence, then apply approved links to download an editable Word document.

Use KERNIT in the Browser#

The browser Hyperlinker is the fastest way to process a manuscript without writing code. It is designed for authors, editors, research assistants, and teams that need a visible review step.

Use KERNIT by API#

The API exposes the same scan, resolve, and apply model for platforms that process many manuscripts or want to embed reference-linking in their own workflow. Production API calls use https://api.kernit.org.

  1. Open the Hyperlinker

Go to kernit.org/hyperlinker and choose a DOCX file.

  2. Run a scan

KERNIT reads the file and returns candidate links grouped by citation, figure, table, equation, section, appendix, DOI, and reference target.

  3. Review risky rows

Start with unmatched, low-confidence, and identity-changing rows. Keep, skip, or retarget each match.

  4. Apply links

Download the editable DOCX with standard Word hyperlinks.
